FACTORS AFFECTING E-LEARNING UTILIZATION IN BASIC SCIENCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ENUGU STATE IN THE POST COVID-19 ERA

Abstract

This study investigated the factors affecting e-learning utilization in Basic Science in a
post covid-19 era in secondary schools in Enugu State. The study adopted a descriptive
research design. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The
instrument for data collection was the Factors affecting E-Learning Utilization in Basic
Science Questionnaire (FEUBSQ). The population of the study was 6, 017 respondents.
Multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 20 teachers and 220 students from
the secondary schools in Enugu State. The Cronbach Alpha technique was used to
ascertain the instrument’s reliability, which yielded 0.89. Data collected were analyzed
using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The findings revealed that the factors affecting
e-learning utilization include lack of funds, lack of competence, and inadequate
infrastructure among others. It was recommended that e-learning platforms and internet
facilities should be provided by the institutions and workshops for the training and
retraining of teachers.
